THE MOST PRECIOUS PAIR OF HANDS PERHAPS ??

What can one say when fingers produce such divine music ?? Here are some true vintage photos of lalgudi sir with some great musicians..

With K.V.Narayanaswamy and palani subramania pillai at taj mahal...

With semmangudi srinivasa iyer and trichy sankaran

With the world famous violinist Yehudi Menuhin...
Last week when I met him , he was impatient "Why do you keep referring to my accompanying.Have you not heard my Solos?", he demanded.I had replied" Yes , but that is like a master chef cooking in his own kitchen. While accompanying , you are cooking in somebody else's kitchen. And that matters a lot to me "Then , I noticed that he had grown warm to my explanation :) We listened to a Doreswamy Iyengar- lalgudi duet together for half an hour.
Listen to some fabulous accompaniment .. Lalgudi accompanying nookala chinna satyanarayana in a concert..
Full concert , sometime later .

The master and his disciple

An absolutely outstanding thani avarthanam in misra jhampai thAlam featuring Palani subramania pillai and his illustrious disciple , a 13 or 14 year old boy called Trichy Sankaran . You just cannot help but get absolutely speechless and amazed by the virtuosity and the impeccable maturity of Sankaran sir at that age to understand what his teacher is playing and most importantly reproduce that effortlessly and at times even doing one step better.

The vocalist id viswAn Sri . S. Ramanthan..Enjoy , as the master and his student having a go at each other ..Just in case if you have trouble identifying who is playing , palani would be the one to start the exchanges in the thani , followed by sankaran.
